In Anne’s words
When you think about adoption you might think about babies and little toddlers. This month, I want you to think about teenagers.
Around half of the children waiting for permanency are between the ages of 12 and 18. Teens also wait the longest to find families. That’s why this November our theme is permanency for youth.
We want to get the word out about the amazing teens and youth who need loving families through adoption, guardianship, kinship care, or another form of permanency.
Having a permanent place to call home, with an adult who cares about you, is a fundamental need.
If you grew up with that, try to imagine what your teenage years would have been like without it.
Welcoming a teenager into your family is a different experience, for sure, but it can be incredibly rewarding.
If you’re thinking about growing your family, consider opening your heart and home to an older child.
We’re here to answer your questions, and to support you on every step of your journey.
Because no one is ever too old to belong.
