We’re excited to announce that applications for our three annual bursary programs open on March 1, 2025!

The Belonging Network’s bursary programs provide financial support to people in our community to pursue their education—whether at college, university, in a trade, or through other training programs. Bursary funds can be used for tuition, training costs, or related expenses, including living costs while studying.

Who can apply?

BC Orca Bursary Program

The BC Orca Bursary Program awards financial assistance to youth from care who plan to pursue a post-secondary program at an accredited BC institution. In 2024, we awarded 24 bursaries to support youth on their educational journeys.

Joy MacPhail Youth Bursary

The Joy MacPhail Youth Bursary provides financial support for post-secondary studies to a young person who joined their family by legal adoption or other forms of permanency. One $3,000 bursary will be awarded in 2025.

Vancouver Film Studios Indigenous Bursary

The Vancouver Film Studios Indigenous Bursary provides financial assistance to Indigenous people of all ages who plan to pursue any kind of formal or informal career-related education or training in BC. Bursary amounts vary depending on the applicant’s needs. The maximum amount awarded to one applicant is $3,000. In 2024, we awarded four bursaries through this program.

The deadline to apply is April 25 at 11:59 p.m. PST. Recipients will be notified of the status of their application by June 15, 2025.

Spread the word! Let’s ensure that everyone in your community knows these supports are available to them.
