This course is for anyone interested in adopting, fostering, or caring for a baby or toddler—especially if there is any risk of prenatal substance exposure. Learn about infant development, drug and alcohol exposure, sleep issues, household and infant safety, support services, self-care, and more in this self-directed course. This course is self-directed and open for registration from September 1 to December 17, 2026.

This workshop is for professionals who support families formed through adoption and permanency. Led by Ashleigh Martinflatt, this lunchtime session will help professionals develop their knowledge and skills in working with parents following an adoption placement.

In this three-part workshop, parents and caregivers of children with special needs, including autism, will develop practical strategies to strengthen relationships, support learning, and confidently navigate everyday challenges. Participants will learn how to understand and respond to behaviour and promote independence using evidence-based approaches that can be applied in daily life.

This workshop, delivered by the FASCETS Centre of Neurodiversity, introduces participants to brain-based differences (BBDs), including ADHD and FASD, and explores how brain function influences behaviour. Using a research-informed neurobehavioural framework, participants will learn to reframe behaviours through a brain-based lens, consider why traditional interventions may not always be effective, and identify person-specific accommodations that support success across settings. The workshop is designed for both parents and professionals.

Parenting children who have experienced trauma can be challenging at any stage of their development. This two-part online workshop provides practical tips and tools for trauma-informed parenting and helps parents understand the relationship between trauma and adoption. Tuesdays, October 20 and 27, from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

In this one-hour workshop, Brenda Knight will explore the realities older kinship caregivers face and share ways to support their well-being. An optional one-hour support group will follow, giving participants space to reflect, share, and connect with others in similar caregiving roles.
