We’re updating our registration system to make it easier for learners to sign up for courses and events.
Starting July 6, you’ll be asked to create a Belonging Network account the next time you register. This is a quick, one-time step that will allow your information to be saved so you can register more easily in the future.
Before you continue: When registering, please use your own individual email address. This helps keep your course registration connected to the right account and prevents duplicate records.
This course covers:
- Building compassion and empathy for birth parents
- Understanding addiction and the impacts of prenatal drug and alcohol exposure on the infant
- What to expect when bringing baby home
- Infant development and mental health
- Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS)
Format: This online course is comprised of self-directed videos, discussions, and journalling. Participants will receive a takeaway resource guide.
Audience: This workshop is directed toward adoptive and permanency parents and referred foster parents. We recommend that participants have taken the Learning for Everyone in Adoption and Permanency (LEAP) program or foster parent training before taking Safe Babies. This workshop is for adults only.
Fee: $150 per person. Each participant must register and complete their course material individually. Partners cannot share a single registration.
Important note: To receive a completion certificate for this course, participants must obtain certified infant/child First Aid (including CPR) training outside of the Belonging Network and provide their certificate to the Belonging Network Registration Coordinator.
Your First Aid training must include certified infant/child CPR training. Please reference the chart below to ensure that it meets the requirements for certification in this course. Foster parents, please check with your resource workers on provincial and local requirements.

Accessing the course: You’ll receive login information via email on the day the course starts. If you register after the course has started, your login details will be emailed to you within two business days.
Dates: The course starts on May 1. The last day to register is August 17. Participants must complete assignments before August 31.
