The Adoption Education Program (AEP) has been updated and now it’s called LEAP (Learning for Everyone in Adoption and Permanency). This program gives prospective adoptive parents, kinship caregivers, Indigenous caregivers, relatives raising relatives, foster parents, and guardians a strong foundation of knowledge for caring for children and youth.

In this one-hour workshop, we'll go over the program's new format, who it is for, and the most effective ways to support families throughout the course. We’ll also share valuable insights and tips on how you can best support them on their permanency journey.

This session will be facilitated by Ashleigh Martinflatt. With more than 20 years of experience in the permanency field, Ashleigh has dedicated her career to supporting the needs of children and youth in/from care as a clinical counsellor and university professor. She holds a Master of Social Work and is a Ph.D. candidate in Child and Youth Care. Most importantly, she is also a parent through adoption.
