Did you know that around half of the children waiting for permanency in BC are between the ages of 12 and 18? In this session, we’ll explore how you, as a professional, can effectively support families at every stage of their permanency journey—whether the child is already in their care or not.
During this one-hour workshop, we’ll cover effective methods for preparing and supporting families who are adopting tweens and teens. We’ll share strategies for facilitating smooth transitions and developing long-term support for caregivers. You’ll gain valuable insights and practical tips to help families throughout their adoption and permanency journeys.
The session will be facilitated by Ashleigh Martinflatt. With more than 20 years of experience in the permanency field, Ashleigh has dedicated her career to supporting the needs of children and youth in/from care as a clinical counsellor and university professor. Most importantly, she is also a parent through adoption.
