Introduction to Adoption and Permanency is designed for anyone exploring adoption or permanency in BC—especially those interested in adopting from foster care. LEAP is our newly revamped version of the Adoption Education Program (AEP), offering an in-depth look at key topics that prepare families for the journey ahead.

Course topics
Introduction to Adoption and Permanency
This self-paced online course takes about 5 hours to complete and covers:
• The adoption process
• Legal and financial considerations
• The unique needs and experiences of children and youth who are waiting for a permanent family
Learning for Everyone in Adoption and Permanency (LEAP)
LEAP is a 10-week online course that includes group discussions and a mix of engaging multimedia lessons.Topics include:
• The impacts of colonization on adoption, adoption through foster care, separation and loss, and predictable adjustments
• Attachment and trauma
• Openness and cultural understanding
• Prenatal exposure to drugs and alcohol, and mental health
