A webinar that aims to provide insights, guidance, and connection for families dealing with aggressive behaviours from their children or youth.

Talking about Aggression towards Family/Caregivers in Childhood and Adolescence (AFCCA) isn't easy. Many parents and caregivers feel shame, stigma, and isolation when seeking help. However, everyone involved, including the youth, faces risks of physical or psychological harm, as well as family instability and possible breakdown.

AFABC and Adopt4Life (Ontario's Adoptive, Kin and Customary Care Association) are here to provide understanding and a welcoming community for those on similar journeys.

Join Maude Champagne and Jenn Drudge from Adopt4Life’s AFCCA Family Supports Program for an open discussion about AFCCA.

They'll talk about:

  • What exactly is AFCCA and why it happens
  • Strategies for support
  • Common challenges and effective interventions, like Non-Violent Resistance (NVR), de-escalation techniques, and building circles of support

More about the facilitators: Maude Champagne is the Clinical Lead for Adopt4Life’s AFCCA Family Supports Program. She is also a Ph.D. Candidate in Neurosciences at Queen’s University. Her focus is on FASD, Trauma, and AFCCA. Maude is a registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist.

Jenn Drudge is the Provincial Parent Liaison for Adopt4Life’s AFCCA Family Supports Program. She has two kids of her own and has adopted four more children. Because of her job and her own life, Jenn knows a lot about the difficulties that families dealing with FASD, Developmental Trauma, Attachment Disorder, and Anxiety face.
