Parenting kids with trauma can be challenging at any stage of their development. This online workshop is designed to provide tips and tools for trauma-informed parenting and to help parents understand the relationship between trauma and adoption.
Parents will learn about the different types of trauma, how they manifest in the developing child, and strategies for parenting with a trauma-informed approach.
Format: The course consists of three online workshops, each two hours long.

Session 2 – Core principles of trauma-informed parenting
• Safety
• Relationships
• Communication
Session 3 – Healing and self-care
• Non-trauma moments
• Scale of healing
• Environments of healing
• Self-care
Activities: These include live online presentations, group discussions, reading articles, watching videos, and participating in breakout rooms, all presented in a multimedia format.

Facilitator: This workshop is taught by an instructor with over 16 years in the permanency field. She holds her Master’s in Social Work and is a PhD candidate in Child and Youth Care.
Audience: Prospective and current adoptive and permanency parents.
Fee: $95 per person. Joining the waitlist is free.
