Our Parenting Teens & Tweens workshop provides an introduction to the joys, challenges, and typical behaviours associated with parenting a teen or tween in or from care.
This three-part online workshop will help parents understand teen development and offer practical tips and tools to support their parenting journey.
Format: The course consists of three online sessions, each 1.5 hours long.

• Disruptions and breakdowns
• Experiences of children from care and the impact of transitions
• Positive identity formation
• Social media and online identity
• Sex and relationships
Session 2
• Understanding the developing brain
• Impact of trauma on the developing brain
• Attachment
Session 3
• Belonging
• Mental health
• Barriers to treatment
• Mental illnesses & substance use
Activities: These include live online presentations, group discussions, reading articles, watching videos, and participating in breakout rooms, all presented in an online multimedia format.
The workshop sessions will be held on Microsoft Teams. You can find instructions for joining a Teams meeting here.
Audience: This workshop is designed to build on the knowledge gained in the AEP Online course. Participants are recommended to have completed the AEP or an equivalent adoption education program.
Fee: $50 per person. Joining the waitlist is free.
