As our client, you can expect:
- To be treated with respect. We will respect your family type, lifestyle, religion, ethnicity, culture, and your opinions.
- To have your personal information and family history kept private and strictly confidential, with one exception: if you disclose information that leads us to be concerned that you may have hurt or may hurt a child, we have a duty to report our concern to the proper authorities.
- To have fair and equitable access to services where and when they are provided. When you inquire about our services, you will be given information to enable you to decide if our services are of interest to you, and to determine if you are eligible.
- To be heard – the Belonging Network is always open to comments or suggestions about our services. If you have a complaint, the Belonging Network has a formal complaint procedure which is available to all clients on our website or by request.
As a participant in our group programs and services, the Belonging Network has the expectation that if you participate, you will:
- Treat others in the group with respect and understand that their adoption experiences, family type, lifestyle, religion, ethnicity, culture, and opinions may or may not be the same as yours.
- Respect the privacy and confidentiality of the group. Our rule is, “What is said in the group stays in the group.”
Collection, use, and disclosure of personal information
The personal information you voluntarily provide to the Belonging Network is protected under the provisions of British Columbia’s and Canada’s provincial and federal privacy legislation (PIPA). Depending on the nature of the transaction, the Belonging Network generally collects contact information (name, address, email, telephone number) and payment information, if required, related to event registrations, group participation, donations, subscriptions, memberships, newsletters, and information mailings.
Your information will only be used for the following:
- Respond to your inquiries
- Send you informational material
- Send you subscription or membership renewal notices
- Enable event registration and online group participation
- Conduct financial transactions
- Notify you of events or offers of interest to you
- Inform you of changes to programs you are participating in
- Solicit financial support
- Generate anonymous statistics
All of our commercial electronic messages are compliant with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation and will always give you the opportunity to manage your subscription preferences and opt out of future mailings.
