Over three weekly sessions, parents and caregivers will build their understanding, strengthen connections, and develop practical skills to support children with support needs, including autism. Each session will build on the previous week's learning while reviewing key concepts. Together, the sessions will offer an in-depth perspective and provide tools to help caregivers problem-solve in the moment, identify opportunities for learning, and foster a balanced relationship with their child.

Caregivers will learn how to:

  • Identify the triggers and functions of behaviour
  • Use proactive strategies to minimize challenges
  • Apply the principles of behaviour to build meaningful connections and emotional regulation
  • Create learning opportunities to build communication at the child’s level
  • Apply prompting and reinforcement strategies to support learning throughout daily living
  • Better understand executive functioning challenges and use strategies that support independence and self-management
  • Assess motivating operations and preferences
