About the Belonging Network

The Belonging Network is a Canadian non-profit providing support, education, and connection for adoptive and permanency families and youth in and from government care in BC and beyond.

Formerly the Adoptive Families Association of BC, we began more than 45 years ago as a group of adoptive parents who dedicated their time and energy to supporting each other and other families in British Columbia. We’ve since expanded to serve all types of permanency and adoptive families as well as youth in and from government care.

We changed our name in 2024 to better reflect this diverse audience and as a step in our journey of truth and reconciliation with Indigenous peoples.

What we do

All children and youth need belonging and lifelong connections. That’s why the Belonging Network works hard to support adoptive and permanency families, waiting children, and youth from care in British Columbia.

We focus on three things: finding families for BC’s waiting children and youth, supporting families created through adoption and permanency at every stage of their journeys, and supporting youth in and from government care (including foster care) as they grow up and enter adulthood.

About our logo

Our logo demonstrates how unique pieces make up a diverse whole that represents the individual, family, and community, using connected circles as a metaphor for the relationships between individuals and their communities. The design uses complementary colors to communicate the strength and importance of diversity, while emphasizing our core belief that everyone needs to belong.

Logo usage guidelines

  • Maintain the logo’s aspect ration when resizing
  • Do not alter the colours or modify the design
  • Maintain clear space around the logo
  • Minimum size requirements:
    • Logo with tagline: 100px wide (digital)/1.375″ wide (print)
    • Logo without tagline: 72px wide (digital)/1.0″ wide (print)
